Wampler Cryptid Fuzz Pedal The Wampler Cryptid is a unique, highly versatile fuzz designed to capture the best characteristics of classic fuzz circuits while offering plenty of tones all its own. Inspired by everything from Fuzz Face and Tone Bender-style sounds to Big Muff territory, the Cryptid delivers vintage sensitivity with modern control and usability. Unlike a traditional fuzz that can be difficult to tame, the Cryptid is remarkably easy to dial in. It can produce everything from fat, singing fuzz and classic rock tones to tight, amp-like distortion and even glassy cleans when you roll back your guitar's volume. Extensive tone-shaping controls include: Volume, Tone & Fuzz: Straightforward controls for dialing in your core sound. Character Control: Acts as a bias control, ranging from distorted fuzz through Muff- and Bender-inspired tones, with settings that venture into more extreme fuzz territory. 3-Position Tight Switch: Shapes the low end, from huge, sub-heavy tones to a tighter, more focused distortion-like response. Chime Switch: Adds extra harmonic sparkle and air without becoming harsh. The Cryptid is also highly responsive to your guitar's volume control and electronics. Like the best vintage fuzzes, it works particularly well when placed before buffered pedals, allowing you to clean up the sound simply by rolling back your guitar's volume. With the right settings, it can transition from saturated fuzz to surprisingly clean and articulate tones. Whether you're after Hendrix-style fuzz, Eric Johnson-inspired sustain, massive Muff-like sounds, aggressive modern fuzz, or something completely different, the Cryptid offers an impressive range without simply being another clone. Key Features Original Wampler fuzz circuit Covers a wide range of classic and modern fuzz tones Character/bias control for extensive fuzz shaping 3-position Tight switch for low-end control Chime switch for added harmonic clarity Highly responsive to guitar volume a
