Seller's description

offered by RHODE ISLAND GUITAR SHOW of Woonsocket RI This is an 1800's Joachim Tielke Haut European ornate acoustic guitar. WITH AMAZING RARE ORIGINAL SOFT CASE BAG!! This an excellent candidate to undergo some restoration. It is playable but could benefit with some restoration work.....or leave as-is and add to a folk antique instrument collection. The action is a little high but it is playable, especially in first position. It has a nice, warm, delicate acoustic tone. The detailed craftsmanship is really high, with decorative headstock, fancy tuners, adjustable bridge (for intonation), flame maple in back, Brazilian rosewood board, solid spruce top. wood binding, herringbone deocoration all arround, and decorative sound-hole piece. Some of the work it needs, if you've a mind to.... some binding missing in spots (it is wood binding) strap button is broken center seam is separated in the top back has some seams that need reglued one bent tuner sound hole decoration is damaged headstock is fine but I note there is some repair work already done and it is solid, unless what I am seeing was part of the scarf join during construction (nothing needs done here) there is a neck patch about 3/4 inch square that is a nice job (see pics) Even considering the issues, it is a nice example and can be displayed or played as-is. At the very least I would probably get a few seams reglued to make sure it is stablized. Very cool antique guitar. The bag/case is in decent functional condition, with a stain, one seam separating, and original leather handle is long gone (but steel loops still in place). Really cool to have the case with it!!!
