Seller's description

*Milwaukee Guitar Collective has been a TOP 300 Reverb Seller since 2023* 1960's Silvertone 1483 Piggyback amplifier and matching speaker cabinet in Very Good condition. This is a 23-watt, tube-rectified piggyback amplifier built by Danelectro for Sears in the mid-1960s, celebrated for its raw, gnarly, and distinctively "lo-fi" garage-rock overdrive. Unlike high-headroom Fender and Vox amps, this 1483 starts breaking up early on the volume dial. Its overdrive character leans heavily toward a fuzzy, raw, old-school Americana aesthetic. Powered by a tube-rectified circuit (using a 5Y3 rectifier) paired with 6L6 power tubes, it features natural power sag and a soft, spongy attack when you dig into the strings. Because it was originally marketed as a bass amplifier, the tone stack is voiced low. When used for electric guitar, players typically dime the treble and roll the bass down to zero, though it still retains a dark, thick, mid-focused character without sparkling high-end clarity Tubes appear to be original, speaker and cabinet sound great. There's one rear corner that's worn through the Tolex. All corners are photographed and presented. There's one obvious, REVERSIBLE modification, and that's the piece of phenolic used to add a jack to the speaker terminal. That is also in the pictures. This amp will be meticulously packaged and shipped in a NEW box, typically on the same day. PLEASE check out our awesome feedback!
