Novo Guitars Dennis Fano Solus M1 Custom order – 2021 – Aged Mary Kaye White A rather lovely and quite unusual 2021 Novo Solus M1 Custom, designed by Dennis Fano and finished in Aged Mary Kaye White. Novo guitars have always had a distinctive take on vintage-inspired design, combining familiar styling with some genuinely interesting ideas and excellent build quality. This particular Solus M1 is a great example, with a lovely aged finish and a few choice appointments that make it stand out from the crowd. The guitar has been fitted with a Lindy Fralin overwound Dogear P-90, giving it a wonderfully gutsy and characterful voice. There's plenty of midrange presence, a nice amount of bite and a slightly thicker, more muscular quality than you might expect from a traditional P-90. Clean tones are warm, open and articulate, while pushing an amp brings out that lovely raw, harmonically rich quality that makes these pickups so appealing. It's responsive to playing dynamics and cleans up beautifully from the guitar's volume control. A very versatile and rather addictive sound. The pickup is complemented by a rose-gold anodised aluminium pickguard, which looks particularly good against the Aged Mary Kaye White finish. An additional three-ply Vintage White pickguard is also included should you prefer a more understated, traditional appearance. The Solus M1 features Novo's beautifully sculpted body construction, tempered pine body and tempered maple neck, with a rosewood fingerboard and comfortable 24.75" scale length. The neck has a substantial, comfortable feel, and the compensated wraparound bridge keeps things simple and direct.
