The Magnatone Panoramic Stereo is one of those amps that’s really hard to put down, and “lush” is the word that comes to mind the moment you hit your first chord. Then you start digging into the vibrato, and before you know it, an hour has gone by. That vibrato is really the heart of this amp. It’s Magnatone’s true pitch-shifting stereo vibrato, the effect the brand is famous for, and it’s a whole different animal from the simple volume-pulsing tremolo that a lot of amps call vibrato. It actually bends the pitch of your notes as it moves back and forth between the two speakers, which gives it a deep, swirling, three-dimensional quality that lands somewhere between a Uni-Vibe and a spinning Leslie. Plug in an expression pedal (not included) and you can sweep the speed with your foot, going from a slow, dreamy shimmer all the way up to a fast, churning warble, a lot like ramping a Leslie up and down. And when you want that classic pulse instead, a flip of a switch gets you a traditional tremolo. Add in the reverb, a tube-driven, full-length tank with four springs, and you’ve got a deep, gorgeous wet sound that sits right behind the vibrato without ever washing it out. Underneath all of that are some truly stunning cleans. The Panoramic runs two separate 12-watt EL84 power sections, one for each 10" speaker, so you’re getting 24 watts of all-tube stereo that’s warm, fat, and full, holds together nicely at real volume, and takes pedals beautifully when you want to push it into some grit. It comes with a two-button footswitch for the onboard effects, and at 36.5 lbs, it’s easy enough to grab for a gig. Whether you’re into Americana, surf, soul, ambient textures, or you just love playing a chord and letting it ring out, this is an amp that’s going to inspire you every time you turn it on.
