1996 Lowden 0-12 Cutaway acoustic– Left Handed A rather special 1996 left-handed Lowden 0-12 Cutaway, fitted with a Fishman Prefix Plus-T pickup system. This would have been built in it Lowden's Newtonards facility. We actually sold this very guitar when it was new, so it’s a real pleasure to see it back with us all these years later. As you would expect, it has picked up a few marks, light dings and signs of use along the way, but all are entirely in keeping with its age and the life it has lived. The frets show some minor wear but have plenty of life left in them and are nicely polished. We have given the guitar a full workshop setup and it is now ready for a new home. It comes complete with its original Lowden-embossed Hiscox hardshell case. The wood set comprises a aged Spruce top, Mahogany back and sides, a traditional five-piece Mahogany neck and an Ebony fingerboard. The build quality is exceptional, as you would expect from Northern Ireland’s premier guitar builder, with the precision and attention to detail that Lowden have become renowned for. The first thing that strikes you is just how good this guitar feels. The playability is exceptional, with a wonderfully easy response across the fingerboard and the sort of effortless feel that makes you want to keep playing. Tonally, it’s equally impressive. There’s huge volume here, but it’s not simply about being loud. The sound is beautifully balanced and carries an extraordinary amount of sustain — almost piano-like in the way the notes hang in the air. The Lowden jumbo-style body gives you plenty of power and headroom, whilst retaining that lovely clarity and separation that makes these guitars so useful. Chords have weight and depth, individual notes remain beautifully defined and there’s a wonderful sense of space around the sound. After all these years, this one has really opened up. It has that mature, complex Lowden voice that only comes with time, playing and a very good piece of wood. The Fishman
