Seller's description

The Laney Lionheart L20H is a 20-watt all-valve guitar amplifier head built in the UK as part of Laney’s Lionheart series, designed to focus on pure power-amp-driven tone rather than heavy preamp distortion. It uses a Class A, parallel single-ended output stage powered by four EL84 valves, paired with ECC83 (12AX7) preamp tubes, producing a responsive, harmonically rich sound that reacts strongly to playing dynamics. It features a two-channel layout (clean and drive), with a relatively simple control set including gain, tone shaping EQ, and master volume, along with a bright switch for additional clarity. A key design focus is allowing the power section to contribute naturally to breakup, meaning the amp shifts from clean to overdriven tones based on how hard it is driven rather than relying purely on preamp gain staging. The amplifier also includes onboard studio-style spring reverb, an effects loop for time-based pedals, and multiple speaker impedance options (4, 8, or 16 ohms), making it flexible for different cabinet setups. Built in the UK with a boutique-style construction approach, it is known for compact size, relatively low wattage feel that still performs loudly in real-world use, and a strong emphasis on touch sensitivity and natural tube compression.
