Seller's description

The Kononykheen Breed Fifty One in Coal Black Satin is a striking and versatile bass built to deliver a wide range of tonal options. Its three-piece basswood body is finished in a subtle satin style, combining natural wood tones on the back with deep coal black on the front. The bolt-on maple neck with a black Far‑Eastern poplar fingerboard spans 22 frets with a 12-inch radius, providing a smooth, comfortable playing surface across its 34‑inch scale, while the four-bolt construction ensures solid stability and resonance. Electronics are a key feature of this model, with a hybrid pickup layout that originally included a JB-style ferrite at the neck, a premium PB-type in the middle, and a soapbar humbucker at the bridge. A five-position selector switch gives access to multiple pickup combinations, supported by simple master volume and tone controls. In this particular version, the neck pickup has been replaced with a Seymour Duncan unit, giving the neck position a richer, broader output while maintaining the flexibility of the original setup. Hardware is practical and reliable, featuring Kononykheen’s own bridge with 16 mm string spacing and open-style tuners for precise pitch control. The combination of unique pickup configurations, versatile controls, and well-considered construction makes the Breed Fifty One a compelling choice for players seeking a bass capable of covering everything from vintage tones to modern, high-output sounds, all wrapped in a distinctive satin aesthetic.
