The EarthQuaker Devices Sunn O))) Life Pedal V3 combines crushing distortion, blendable analogue octave-up fuzz and a powerful clean boost in one heavy-duty effects pedal. Developed with experimental drone-metal pioneers Sunn O))), the V3 is designed around the front-end signal chain used during the recording of Life Metal. Its distortion section delivers up to approximately 60dB of gain, while three clipping modes let you choose between open OpAmp aggression, smoother asymmetrical clipping and tight symmetrical distortion. A dedicated octave footswitch, expression-pedal control and independent MOSFET clean boost make the Life Pedal V3 particularly suited to doom, drone, sludge, stoner rock, experimental, noise and heavy alternative guitar. The Life Pedal V3 combines three complementary gain stages within one enclosure. The signal begins with an analogue octave-up circuit inspired by vintage Shin-Ei-style octave fuzz designs, before feeding into a high-gain distortion section. A separate MOSFET clean boost then sits at the end of the signal chain, giving you additional output to drive an amplifier even harder. V3 also adds a dedicated Octave footswitch, allowing the octave effect to be brought in and out during performance without changing the distortion setting. Three
