The EarthQuaker Devices Sunn O))) HalfLife is a compact octave distortion and clean boost pedal developed with Sunn O))), bringing the core Life Pedal signal chain into a more pedalboard-friendly enclosure. It combines a blendable analogue octave-up, high-gain distortion with three selectable clipping modes and an independent MOSFET clean boost. The result ranges from tight distortion and grinding OpAmp drive to chaotic octave fuzz, sustained feedback and heavily saturated amp tones. Inspired by the front-end setup used during the creation of Sunn O)))’s Life Metal, the HalfLife is particularly well suited to doom, drone, sludge, stoner rock, experimental, noise and heavy alternative guitar.
