Octave Fuzz BlasterThe Fuzz Master General is our take on the vintage Ace Tone Fuzz Master FM-2 Professional, an octave fuzz very similar to the hugely popular Super Fuzz. We’ve taken the original circuit and reimagined it to be more useful for the modern player. The Fuzz Master General features a more precise fuzz control, offering a much wider range of dirt—from nearly clean tones to full-on chainsaw assault. We’ve added a “Voice” toggle switch to further expand its tonal possibilities, allowing you to select between germanium, silicon, or no diode clipping at all. This has a huge impact on the fuzz character, upper octave clarity, and output level.Germanium diodes provide more output with a looser, more open fuzz sound.Silicon diodes compress the signal and produce a tighter, more aggressive fuzz.In no clipping mode (center position), you can achieve an almost clean octave-up tone that borders on ring modulation. While the original Fuzz Master had a footswitch to select between two tone settings, the Fuzz Master General features a variable tone control, letting you dial in anything from bright, cutting highs to deep, scooped low-end thunder. It also offers significantly higher output volume and much lower noise than the original unit. With all these added features, the Fuzz Master General delivers a more versatile version of the original while retaining the thick, swelling octave grind we all know and love. Each unit is hand-built in the (basically tropical) region of Akron, Ohio.ControlsFuzz: Turn clockwise to increase the amount of dirt.Tone: Clockwise for darker, more scooped tones. Counterclockwise for brighter, more open tones.Level: Controls the output volume.Voice: 3-way toggle switch that selects the clipping style:Mode 1 – Germanium clipping: More open, loose fuzz.Mode 2 – Silicon clipping: Louder, tighter, more compressed fuzz.Mode 3 – Open (no diode clipping): Pure transistor operation, producing a nearly clean octave-up effect similar to ring modulation.
