Seller's description

The EP101 Echoplex Preamp is a pedal that captures the legendary front-end magic of the Echoplex EP-3, known for its ability to sweeten up guitar tones and condition the sound. Originally found in the Echoplex tape echo unit, the preamp section became highly sought after by guitar players, including top names like Jimmy Page, Eddie Van Halen, and Eric Johnson, for its tonal conditioning ability as much as its tape echo effect. Now, you can have that legendary secret sauce right on your pedalboard. The Echoplex Preamp replicates the front-end of the EP-3 with precision, featuring a Field-effect Transistor (FET) just like the original and following the exact same signal path. The Gain control on the pedal allows you to boost your signal by up to +11dB, with light asymmetrical clipping at higher settings for a touch of organic grit, adding some character to your tone. Designed for convenience and durability, the Echoplex Preamp runs on standard 9-volt power and includes power management circuitry to ensure consistent headroom performance throughout the normal life of a 9-volt battery. Its rugged Phase 90-sized housing, complete with a replica EP-3 knob, true bypass switching, and a status LED, make it road-ready and capable of enduring the rigors of touring. Whether you want to enhance your signal, add a touch of grit, or simply recreate the magic of the EP-3's front end, the Echoplex Preamp delivers that legendary preamp mojo in a pedal format. You can power it using a 9-volt battery, a Dunlop ECB003 9-volt adapter, or other compatible power supplies like the DC Brick™, Iso-Brick™, and Mini Iso-Brick™ (not included). With the EP101 Echoplex Preamp, you can leave your fragile vintage EP-3 unit at home and have that classic tone right at your feet whenever you need it.
