From the listing
A new variant of the Crews Maniac Sound “NPB” regular lineup has arrived — the DHB configuration, featuring dual humbuckers.Equipped with Crews’ original active circuit, it delivers a wide range of tones from natural clarity to powerful, muscular drive. This model is based on the regular NPB series but introduces a new dual-humbucker layout. While the standard NPB uses alder, this version features a lightweight, carefully selected ash body.Ash is once again drawing attention for its fast attack, excellent response, and forward projection — qualities that define its character — while also becoming increasingly rare. Both the neck and fingerboard are maple. The combination of a satin-finished maple neck and a laminated maple fingerboard provides a balance of open resonance, smooth compression, and rich low-end.Together with the ash body, it creates a sound that is three-dimensional, articulate, and full.Even with the volume slightly rolled back, it retains a clear, solid low end that cuts through the mix with authority. The layout features two Aguilar AG 4M pickups wired in parallel.Known for their strong, punchy tone reminiscent of StingRay-style humbuckers, the AG 4Ms deliver a thicker yet faster, more articulate response.Using Alnico V magnets, they retain the full low end and crisp highs, while the parallel wiring tightens the midrange and enhances note separation and attack. The result is a responsive tone with outstanding clarity and definition, avoiding excessive compression or low-mid saturation. At its core is the Crews TBC-1 preamp, developed from years of field testing and real-world experience. It is designed to “bring the sound forward without coloring it,” meeting the needs of professional players. The sound character is flat and natural, emphasizing the instrument’s original tone.Rather than coloring the sound, it reinforces the low-end punch and percussive top, ensuring presence and clarity within an ensemble. The 2-band EQ (Treble/Bass) offers a wide boost/cut
