It’s late. The kids are in bed. Ok, maybe you don’t have kids. Pets? Either way, everyone is asleep. You sneak off into the practice space and crack open a Cold One. Suddenly, new ideas and riffs begin materializing and leaping from your fingers to the fretboard. That’s the power of the Cold One, our next-level take on the unsung classic that is the DOD Punkifier. That pedal gives you four knobs: distortion gain (“Slam”), fuzz/distortion blend (“Punk”), tone (“Spikes”) and volume (“Menace”). We’ve made some tasteful appointments to these controls (including the names) along with their ranges to satisfy new and old users alike. Among those old users is Graham Coxon of Blur, you may have heard this pedal on the solo from “Coffee & TV”. Perhaps the biggest addition is a knob called “Glitch” which blends between the default fuzz circuit and a glitchy, arpeggiating fuzz tone. You can then blend that sound in the distortion like the original Punkifier. If you set the distortion gain low, that side becomes a clean channel and you can use the Cold One freely on bass as if the Fuzz/Distortion Blend knob was a clean blend. The Cold One is capable of providing all three of these individual circuits without mixing, making for an incredibly versatile dirt box that morphs from one flavor to the next with the simple twist of a knob, and an active Tone knob that adds frequency enhancement without subtracting anything. Input and output buffers make sure the Cold One is at home anywhere in your chain, and it roars on 18V as well. What are you waiting for? The Cold One is calling! TONE: This is an active control that emphasizes either the high frequencies or low frequencies. It is active, meaning it doesn’t cut any signal for its operation. VOL: Up is up, down is down, ya dig? GLITCH: Mixes between fuzz and glitch fuzz on the fuzz side of the circuit (see routing diagram below). When the knob is all the way down, only normal fuzz will be heard. When the knob is all the way up, only
