It has an increased dynamics yield for a bigger sound than any previous BOSS overdrive pedal resulting in a greatly expanded range of smooth overdrive tones and improved response. Overview: The BOSS OD-3 OverDrive pedal offers the kind of saturation that can work in any setting, especially on lead guitars. It has a dense and organic tone that sounds like an amp stack rhythm tone producing a warm clean boost channel. It features tank-tough housing with a big square footswitch and a classic 3-knob configuration with level, drive, and tone controls. The knobs are easy to run and get your fingers around. The enclosure and footswitch design is impeccable. The buffered bypass design helps it maintain a strong signal even in long pedal chains. It relies on a dual-stage overdrive circuit offering a level of sustain and compression unmatched by any overdrive pedal. It intensifies your guitar signal to the point of clipping. This makes for an excellent pedal for working with your guitar's volume control, ranging from a dirty boost to a tight overdrive sound.  It has a sensitive input, cleans up well at low drive settings, compresses just right at higher drive settings, provides a wonderful crunch tone and a very smooth creamy lead tone. It can also boost an already overdriven or distorted sound when run after the other pedal and it covers the low-medium gain range of overdrive sounds on its own very nicely. As a measure of caution for any first-time users, simply connect the guitar to the INPUT connection, connect the OUTPUT connection to the input of the amplifier, connect the power supply & with the pedal in bypass, turn the amp on.
