The HM-2 Heavy Metal is a well-known Boss distortion pedal. The HM-2, which was manufactured between 1983 and 1991, became synonymous with the Swedish death metal scene because to its trademark "chainsaw" high-gain tone, which was famously accomplished by maxing out all of the unit's parameters. While the Boss Heavy Metal defined the sound of that severe genre, it also found favour with shoegazers and even mainstream rockers who used the gentler parts of the pedal's personality - a tribute to its general adaptability. Overview: Hardcore HM-2 fans have been clamouring for a reissue for years, especially as originals become increasingly scarce. The classic stompbox has now been brought back to life 30 years later in a special Waza Craft edition – the HM-2W — thanks to Boss. The Boss HM-2W Heavy Metal retains the original's scorching all-analogue voice while receiving some modern adjustments for improved performance. The HM-2W's Custom mode provides a comparable auditory experience to the Standard mode, but with somewhat more of everything. The drive stage adds more gain and more of the fundamental guitar sound for more attack and sharpness. Furthermore, the low and high-mid qualities have been modified to create greater fullness and definition. The original Boss HM-2 was one of the first "amp-in-a-box" pedals released, meant to imitate the sound of early '80s British amp stacks pushed to their extremes. Surprisingly, the HM-2's popularity peaked near the end of its manufacture cycle, when legendary Swedish death metal bands commonly used the device to create the mid-focused and saturated guitar tones that aggressively cut through in their recordings. Specifications: Waza Craft Edition — Supercharged version of the HM-2, made in Japan for the ultimate Boss tone experience. Authentic HM-2 Aesthetic — Iconic orange-on-black livery evokes plenty of high-octane nostalgia! Standard Mode — Delivers the original HM-2 sound with lower noise and maximized level. Custom
