Seller's description

The Boss DS-1 Distortion is one of the most recognizable distortion pedals ever made, known for its cutting midrange, tight low end, and articulate attack. This particular example has been upgraded with the Keeley All Seeing Eye and Ultra Mod modifications, transforming the classic DS-1 into a far more versatile and dynamic distortion pedal while retaining its unmistakable character. The All Seeing Eye Mod enhances note definition, increases clarity, and opens up the frequency response, resulting in improved articulation and a fuller sound with greater harmonic detail. The Ultra Mod expands the pedal’s gain range, smooths the distortion texture, improves bass response, and makes the pedal more responsive to picking dynamics. Together, these sought-after modifications turn the DS-1 into a richer, more amp-like distortion capable of everything from classic rock crunch to saturated lead tones. This pedal is a Silver Label Made in Taiwan version with serial number SX16816. The robust Boss compact enclosure and straightforward three-knob layout for Tone, Distortion, and Level make it equally at home on stage and in the studio. The Keeley modifications have made this version particularly popular among players looking for a refined take on the classic DS-1 while preserving its familiar feel and reliability. Confirmed users of the Boss DS-1 include Kurt Cobain (Nirvana), Steve Vai, and Joe Satriani.
