Seller's description

Reverty Used Guitars Japan — every instrument inspected, set up, and played before listing. 1979-1980 Yamaha SG800 Brown Sunburst - Made in Japan A Japanese-built Yamaha SG800 from the Nippon Gakki era, from the same SG family as the SG-1000 and SG-2000. This one has the early SG800 appointments: split-wing position inlays, a bound top and a cream pickguard with matching pickup rings. The serial number 001943 is stamped on the back of the headstock above "MADE IN JAPAN". It belongs to the dedicated SG800 serial run used before Yamaha switched all SG models to a shared numbering system, which dates this guitar to around 1980 (late 1979 to 1980). The SG800 was released in Japan in December 1979 and was later replaced by the dot-inlay SG800S, so this is the first version of the model. Set-neck construction, dual humbuckers and Yamaha's own sealed tuners give it the solid build Japanese guitars of this era are known for. == SPECIFICATIONS == - Model: Yamaha SG800 - Year: c.1980 (1979-1980, by serial number) - Serial Number: 001943 - Country of Origin: Japan - Color: Brown Sunburst - Body: Double-cutaway solid body with bound top - Neck: Set neck - Fingerboard: Bound, 22 frets, split-wing position inlays - Headstock: Yamaha logo and flower inlay, SG800 truss rod cover - Scale length: approx. 628 mm (24.7") - Nut width: 42.8 mm - Neck thickness: 20.8 mm at 1st fret / 24.7 mm at 12th fret - Pickups: Two open-coil humbuckers (HH) - Controls: 2 Volume, 2 Tone - Pickup selector: 3-way toggle - Bridge: Tune-o-matic style bridge with stop tailpiece - Tuners: Yamaha Japan sealed tuners - Weight: 4.1 kg (approx. 9.0 lbs) == CONDITION == Overall: Good - Body: Honest playwear consistent with age.
