Seller's description

This vintage Red Label Yamaha FG-180 is a landmark acoustic guitar from Yamaha's history, serving as the company's first folk guitar model . Produced in Japan at the Nippon Gakki factory between approximately 1966 and 1971 , it features a distinctive red label inside the soundhole that gives the guitar its legendary nickname . The guitar features a spruce top with mahogany back and sides, a mahogany neck, and a rosewood fingerboard with 20 frets . The body is a dreadnought-style with a comfortable "V" shape neck profile and a 1-11/16 inch nut width . The unique Yamaha headstock design and large teardrop pickguard with its distinctive "bump" are immediate visual cues to its heritage . Play this guitar and you will hear the warm, woody, and punchy voice that has made these instruments legendary—a full, balanced tone with a rich low-end response and sweet, sustained treble that players have sought for decades . Built with high-quality laminated tonewoods for exceptional stability and durability, these guitars are known for surviving in excellent condition . Respected players like Elliott Smith have favored these Yamahas, and they remain a highly respected "sleeper" vintage guitar often described as a "poor man's Martin" . This is a genuine piece of guitar history, a reliable and musical instrument that is a joy to play. This item is used, but in good condition. Please see pictures for condition.
