A Custom Shop Jazzmaster recreating the 1962 spec is now in stock! As the name “Jazzmaster” suggests, this model was originally developed for jazz guitarists, but at the time it was frequently used by surf-style guitarists. Since the 1990s, it has been embraced by grunge, alternative, and shoegaze guitarists, and remains popular to this day. Among Fender’s lineup, it is a model beloved by guitarists across various genres for its playing feel and sound—which are distinct from those of the Stratocaster and Telecaster—as well as its unique control layout. The wood specifications include a two-piece alder body, a lift-sawn maple neck, and a round-laminated rosewood fingerboard. The neck shape is a ’62 Jazzmaster, featuring a 9.5-inch fingerboard radius and Medium Vintage (47095) frets. It is equipped with a “Hand-Wound J Master Flat MAG” pickup, and the bridge features an RSD JAG/JAZZ BRG designed for a 9.5" fingerboard radius. There are virtually no scratches other than those from the relic finish. The frets have at least 7-bun remaining, the neck is in good condition, and the truss rod is adjustable.
