We’ve just received a used 2026 Dealer Select Explorer Custom! This instrument is a locally selected model purchased by a Japanese dealer during a visit to the Gibson factory in Nashville in 2026. Based on the “Explorer Custom w/ Ebony Fingerboard” from the Modern Collection, this is a special model custom-built to order. While retaining the traditional Explorer design, it features a cool, high-end look unique to custom models, including multi-ply binding, an ebony fingerboard, pearl block inlays, and chrome hardware. The instrument features a mahogany body and neck paired with a high-quality ebony fingerboard. The neck features a “Medium C-Shape” profile that offers a secure grip, combined with “Medium-Jumbo” frets for a satisfying playing experience. It is equipped with “490R / 498T” pickups. Even when heavily distorted, the sound remains clear and undistorted, striking an exquisite balance between the rich mid-low frequencies of the mahogany and the powerful mid-high frequencies of the pickups themselves, resulting in an appealing sound with edgy lows and well-defined mids. There are minor scratches scattered throughout the body, some playwear on the pickguard, and some clear coat lifting near the headstock taper, but there is no significant damage that stands out. The neck is in excellent condition, and there is ample fret life with minimal wear. Clothed in “Silverburst Sparkle” and finished with a gloss finish that accentuates its luxurious feel, this is a true masterpiece.
