This is a 1985 Epiphone Casino from the Beige Label era. This Matsumoku-made model features a fully acoustic body equipped with two P-90-style pickups. It boasts the Casino’s signature design, featuring a center-block-less construction and a Branco tailpiece. The sound is characterized by the crispness and midrange punch typical of P-90s, combined with the open, airy resonance unique to a fully acoustic body. In clean settings, it’s easy to bring out chord separation and attack, and even with a light amount of distortion, you can enjoy the raw, rugged sound characteristic of P-90s. You can also sense the well-seasoned tone unique to a Japanese-made Casino that has stood the test of time, resulting in a sound with nuances distinct from current models. The neck is made of three-piece maple, and the fingerboard is rosewood. The serial number is 5063140, and the label bears an “S,” which is believed to indicate a Sunburst finish. Since the bridge was warped, it has been replaced with an SCUD HK-25C. There is some paint chipping at the tip of the headstock’s back. There is a dent on the back of the neck near the base of the headstock. There are also some minor scratches and dents, but considering its age, it appears to be in relatively good condition. There are no noticeable issues with the neck, and it is in good playing condition. Given the instrument’s age, the frets appear to be in relatively new condition, so it’s possible they have been refretted.
