A used 2026 Historic Collection 1954 Les Paul Custom VOS has just arrived! First introduced in 1954, the Les Paul Custom is affectionately known as the “Black Beauty” for its elegant appearance and remains one of Gibson’s most iconic and popular models to this day. This guitar is a Gibson Custom Shop Historic Collection 1954 Les Paul Custom Reissue VOS. It is a Historic Reissue model that faithfully reproduces the specifications from the very first year the Les Paul Custom was introduced! The body and neck are crafted from mahogany, while the fingerboard is made of ebony. It features traditional specifications that combine rich mid-to-low frequencies with a smooth response. The neck features a “50s Medium C Profile” with moderate thickness, delivering a vintage-like feel and excellent playability. Weighing 3.95 kg, this guitar is relatively lightweight for an all-mahogany model. It is a captivating instrument that offers a rich mid-low range and a warm tone, combined with a responsive, lively sound. The pickups—the defining feature of this 1954-spec model—include a Staple Pickup (P-480) at the neck position and a P-90 Soapbar-type pickup at the bridge position. This model offers a unique and appealing combination of a clear, well-defined front sound and a punchy bridge sound. Furthermore, it faithfully reproduces the details characteristic of high-end models from that era, such as gold hardware, mother-of-pearl block inlays, and Kluson waffle-back tuners. The result is a guitar that exudes elegance and an overwhelming presence. This model features a natural aged finish achieved through the VOS process. It shows minimal signs of use and is in good overall condition, though the pickguard has some play-related scratches, and there are minor scratches near the volute on the back of the neck and near the neck joint. The neck is in good condition, with virtually no fret wear. No parts have ever been replaced, so it remains in its original condition, and it
