A used 2025 Historic Collection 1954 Les Paul Custom VOS has just arrived! First introduced in 1954, the Les Paul Custom is affectionately known as the “Black Beauty.” This instrument is a Historic Collection 1954 Les Paul Custom Reissue VOS crafted by the Gibson Custom Shop—a reissue model that faithfully reproduces the specifications from the very first year the Les Paul Custom was introduced. It features traditional wood materials, with carefully selected mahogany for the body and neck, and an ebony fingerboard. The neck features the “50s Medium C Profile” with moderate thickness, offering a solid grip and excellent playability. Weighing 4.41 kg, this guitar offers the rich mid-to-low frequencies and excellent sustain characteristic of an all-mahogany construction. It produces a dense, thick, and resonant tone with great depth. The instrument’s most distinctive feature is its 1954-spec pickup layout. The neck position features the Staple Pickup (P-480), which offers a clear sound with excellent separation, while the bridge position is equipped with a powerful P-90 Soapbar-type pickup with a wide frequency range. The appeal lies in its one-of-a-kind sound, which combines the warmth and rich mid-low frequencies characteristic of an all-mahogany body with the crisp attack and lustrous highs unique to the P-90. Adorned with gold hardware, 1950s-pattern mother-of-pearl block inlays, and Kluson waffle-back tuners, it boasts a look worthy of the name “Black Beauty,” exuding a sense of luxury. As this is a VOS (Vintage-Oiled-Finish) model, it has been given a light aged finish since manufacture; however, it shows almost no signs of wear from use and remains in excellent condition. The neck is in good condition with virtually no fret wear, and it comes with a certificate of authenticity and manuals. Since Les Paul Custom models from 1957 onward were changed to PAF humbucker configurations, the sound produced by the combination of the Staple Pickup (P-480) and
