The Dreadnought That Supports the Player: 1967 D-35 Given the musical context of the era when this model was introduced, it appeals to folk and singer-songwriter musicians, as well as players in the country genre—including bluegrass—within the context of the “Marching Dreadnought.” Furthermore, in this age of diversity, where live performance, recording, and artistic expression have undergone significant technical evolution, as long as the tone and the player are in harmony, No More Rules—anything goes, and there are no breaches of etiquette The “Martin D-35” is an instrument we want every Martin Guitar lover to experience firsthand. With all this in mind, this particular instrument is one we confidently recommend—both as a lifelong treasured instrument and as the ultimate companion—because it is truly “ready to be played” and “ready to be used.” Considering its year of manufacture and age, it remains in excellent condition. Furthermore, we feel the natural shrinkage of the finish adds to its character. We have performed the following repairs and adjustments: Neck angle adjustment, fingerboard leveling + fret replacement (Jescar original-shape frets) Saddle replacement, nut replacement (both made of cow bone) Bridge string slot adjustment (filling chips, leveling) Back brace detachment > re-gluing and sanding Pickguard replacement (custom-made black PVC, 0.5 mm thick; fabricated and glued) * Since black pickguards were adopted as standard specifications starting in 1969, the design was adjusted to match that aesthetic.
