From the listing
A historic model from Gibson Custom that brings the early specifications of the 1942 J-45 back to life. With serial number “21656038,” this instrument was manufactured in 2026. It is a current Custom Shop model that comes with a Gibson Custom label and certificate of authenticity. The “1942 Banner J-45” features a thermally aged red spruce top and authentic vintage specifications, including glue-jointed construction. This model recreates the “Only a Gibson is Good Enough” banner logo specification used on instruments manufactured around 1942—during World War II—in the early days of the J-45. Combining a round-shouldered body with mahogany sides and back and a thermally aged red spruce top, this guitar delivers rich mid-to-low frequencies, excellent response, and a powerful strumming feel. True to Gibson Custom’s commitment to historic authenticity, this model faithfully recreates the charm of the vintage J-45 down to the finest details, featuring hand-scalloped X-bracing, hide glue construction, a bone nut and saddle, open-back tuners, and a V-shaped neck. Combined with the VOS finish achieved using a thin layer of nitrocellulose lacquer, it offers a refined, understated character and an authentic vintage look. Combining the high level of craftsmanship that captures the essence of the vintage J-45 with modern manufacturing precision, this guitar is highly recommended for everyone from players to collectors. It features the subdued texture characteristic of the VOS finish, and while there are some areas where the finish appears slightly cloudy, there are no noticeable scratches or major damage, and it remains in very good overall condition. There are no noticeable issues with the neck, and it is in excellent playing condition. Condition Grade: B+: Some minor scratches, but no issues for normal use Serial Number: 21656038 Year of Manufacture: 2026 Country of Manufacture: United States Case: Non-original hard case Accessories: Cleaning cloth, strap pins, p
