A 1964 Epiphone E360TD Riviera Royal Tan has arrived!! This 1964 model features serial number 174470 and pot date 13764XX. The Riviera E360TD debuted in 1962 as a competitor to the Gibson ES-335T. While the ES-335T featured two humbucker pickups, the E360TD was equipped with two mini-humbuckers and a FREEQUENCATER tailpiece, producing a brighter, crisper sound that was loved by many musicians—including Magic Sam, Otis Rush,Stevie Ray Vaughan, Robben Ford, and even Noel Gallagher—captivating guitarists across a wide range of genres, from blues to rock. This instrument was manufactured in 1964 and features a 42mm wide neck. Only 170 units were shipped in 1964, making it extremely rare today. This guitar comes with its original hard case, receipt, and period photographs. The back of one photo is inscribed with “Stuart Johnson, St. Louis, Missouri,” and it is likely a photograph of the person who played this particular instrument. The receipt indicates it was purchased on October 15, 1965. The pickups are original Stepped Mini Humbuckers; the one on the bridge has a peeled-off label but is still original. The pot dates are 137644X, 13764XX, 1376XXX, and 13XXXX—though some parts are illegible—and we have determined that all are original. The capacitor is also original: a Sprague “Black Beauty.” Replaced parts include nickel Grover tuners and an Epiphone tremolo, tone, and vibrato system. Based on period photos showing these changes, it’s likely they were replaced shortly after purchase. * The original Frequensator tailpiece is included. Due to the tuner replacement, additional tuner holes have been drilled. Other replacement parts—including the frets, nut, and bridge—are well-made but are replacements. The set screw securing the tremolo arm support is stripped and does not move, but this does not affect the tremolo arm’s operation at all. We have adjusted the tremolo arm angle, replaced the screw at the end of the tailpiece, and addressed a short circuit in the p
