We’ve just received a very rare 1957 Les Paul Custom Reissue from 2011! This is a reissue of the “Les Paul Custom,” known as the “Black Beauty.” Designed with the concept of a solid-body guitar that pairs well with a tuxedo, it features a luxurious black finish with gold hardware. Although models from this year were typically equipped with Burstbuckers as standard, the unit we’ve received features a “Custombucker”—a configuration that is extremely rare for models from this year. While the Custombucker has been standard across the Historic Collection since 2013, it first appeared in the limited-edition “Eric Clapton ‘Beano’ Les Paul” released in 2011—the very year the Custombucker was introduced. As a result, this is a model with specifications that are typically unavailable. It features a mahogany body and neck, paired with a high-quality ebony fingerboard. Its appeal lies in the exquisite balance between the Custom Bucker’s signature quick response to picking and its mellow, warm high-end tone—a characteristic of an all-mahogany guitar. Overall, there are signs of wear, including scratches, dents, buckle marks, and tarnish or rust on the hardware. Additionally, there is some paint chipping at the tip of the headstock. Unfortunately, the certificate of authenticity and other accessories are missing; however, we have determined the year of manufacture based on a sticker on the back of the pickup labeled “03/05/2011,” the included hard case, and the serial number. Given that it is equipped with a Custom Backer and has a unique serial number, it is believed to be a shop-order model from that era. While it shows moderate signs of wear, the neck is in good condition and the frets have about 70% of their original depth remaining, so it is still in excellent playing condition. This is an extremely rare and exceptionally fortunate collector’s piece in the history of Gibson! * Please note that due to the nature of this item, we are unable to transfer it between stor
