Seller's description

The dreadnought guitar shape was invented and introduced by Martin Guitar in 1916, and its first iteration was a 12-fret, slope-shouldered model. Martin has just released several brand new models that harken back to that original design, now modernized with 14 frets clear of the body, a shorter scale length and on-board electronics. These new vintage-style dreads are incredibly playable with the stock .013/medium gauge strings. We're loving the new DSS Martins!   From Martin: "The DSS-16E Black Smoke introduces a bold new voice to the refreshed 16 Series—pairing standout style with warm, vintage-inspired tone. Its gloss spruce top in a striking Black Smoke finish is matched with satin solid mahogany back and sides for punchy midrange, strong treble response, and a focused low end that sits well in any mix. The slope-shoulder Dreadnought body shape delivers a woody, intimate tone—now paired for the first time with a short 24.9" scale length for a relaxed feel that complements its natural warmth. A grained ivoroid pickguard adds a distinctive visual touch, while forward-shifted scalloped X-bracing enhances resonance and bass response. L.R. Baggs® Element™ electronics make it ready for the stage. With feel, character, and presence in equal measure, it’s built to command the room."   SPECS   Body Size: Sloped Shoulder Dreadnought- 14 Fret Scale Length: 24.9" Number of Frets Total: 20 Bracing Pattern: Forward Shifted X Brace Brace Shape: Scalloped Top Material: Spruce Top Color: 1935 Burst Top Finish: Gloss Back Material: Mahogany Side Material: Mahogany Back and Side Finish: Satin Neck Material: Select Hardwood Neck Finish: Satin Neck Shape: Modified Low Oval Fingerboard Material: Ebony Fingerboard Inlay Style: 1955 Style 18 Fingerboard Width at Nut: 1 3/4" Tuning Machines: Nickel Open Gear Bridge Material: Ebony Saddle: Bone Pickguard: Grained Ivoroid Electronics: L.R.
