D-18V Vintage Series (2003) – Mahogany Dreadnought – Excellent Condition This Martin D-18V Vintage Series from 2003 — also searched as Martin D18V, Martin D 18V, Martin D-18 Vintage Series, used Martin D-18V, or Martin mahogany dreadnought — is a highly regarded vintage-inspired model that combines classic Style 18 construction with traditional pre-war-inspired appointments. Built with a solid Sitka spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides, the D-18V delivers the dry, woody and articulate sound associated with a great mahogany dreadnought. It offers strong fundamental notes, punchy mids, clear trebles and a tight, responsive bass, making it an excellent choice for flatpicking, strumming, country, bluegrass, folk and singer-songwriter playing. A key feature of the D-18V is its forward-shifted scalloped X-bracing, which gives the top a more open and responsive character than the standard D-18 of the same period. The result is greater bass response, projection and dynamic range while retaining the clarity and focus that make mahogany Martins so distinctive. The Vintage Series specification also includes a Modified V neck, traditional 1 11/16” (42.9 mm) nut width, ebony fingerboard and bridge, vintage-style open-gear tuners, tortoise-pattern appointments and understated Style 18 aesthetics. This 2003 Martin D-18V is in excellent condition, very new, showing only minimal signs of careful use.
