Martin & Co. 00-21 (1967) – Brazilian Rosewood – Vintage 12-Fret – Very Good Condition This Martin 00-21 from 1967 — also searched as Martin 0021, Martin 00 21, vintage Martin 00-21, Brazilian rosewood Martin, or Martin 12-fret acoustic — is a beautiful vintage example of one of Martin’s most distinctive small-body designs. The highlight is its highly desirable solid Brazilian rosewood back and sides, paired with a solid spruce top. This classic combination gives the guitar a rich and complex voice with excellent harmonic content, clear trebles, warm mids and a surprisingly deep bass response for its compact dimensions. The traditional 12-fret 00 body places the bridge farther into the lower bout than on a typical 14-fret guitar. This contributes to the open, resonant character for which vintage 12-fret Martins are renowned. The smaller body is exceptionally responsive to a light touch, making the 00-21 particularly well suited to fingerstyle, blues, folk and intimate acoustic playing. Its traditional slotted headstock, understated Style 21 appointments and naturally aged woods give the guitar the elegant appearance associated with vintage Martins of this period. Unlike Martin’s more ornate models, the 00-21 lets the quality and beauty of its tonewoods take center stage.
