Seller's description

In honor of what would've been Gram Parsons's 80th birthday, Martin Guitars has issued the limited-edition 00-21 Gram Parsons ~ a tasteful replica of the legendary country-rock songwriter's 1963 00-21.  Known for his iconic collaborations with Emmylou Harris and his contributions to The Byrds, Gram Parsons was a musician's musician, eschewing glamour in favor of understated purity ~ a trait that allowed his gift for melody to shine. A 00-21 is a wonderful guitar with which to examine that quality: its austere look keeps the focus on its utility. It's a guitar that almost invites a songwriter's approach. Neither its looks or its feel suggest that it's going to command a spotlight, but its warm tone and relaxed playability make it a great tool for the sometimes-long hours needed to coax that perfect pairing of music and words. Martin has made some admirable choices with the 00-21 Gram Parsons. Notably, they've used torrefied old-growth Sitka Spruce for the soundboard and decided to scallop the braces. A dry, warm voice is the name of the game here, in keeping with the tones we're so used to hearing every time we spin one of Parsons's great records. Only 80 of these guitars will be produced.
