Seller's description

The Ibanez CPL Compressor Limiter is a vintage pedal from the mid-1980s, designed to provide musicians with precise control over their dynamics. As a precursor to the CP10 model in Ibanez's 10-Series, the CPL offers a unique tonal character distinct from its successors. It features a three-knob layout—Attack, Threshold, and Level—allowing for detailed adjustments to compression settings. Internally, it utilises a BA6110 SIL chip for its voltage-controlled amplifier (VCA), differing from the LM13600 OTA used in the CP9, resulting in a smoother and more transparent compression response. The pedal's construction is robust, with a durable metal chassis that has stood the test of time. Its design caters to both guitarists and bassists, offering versatility across various musical genres. The CPL's compression capabilities range from subtle dynamic levelling to more pronounced limiting effects, making it suitable for both studio recordings and live performances. Its analogue circuitry ensures a warm and natural tone, preserving the instrument's original character while enhancing sustain and clarity. Today, the Ibanez CPL Compressor Limiter is considered a rare find among vintage pedal enthusiasts. Its unique tonal qualities and historical significance have made it a sought-after piece for collectors and musicians alike. While it may not be as widely recognised as some of its contemporaries, the CPL's distinctive sound and reliable performance continue to earn it a place on pedalboards around the world.
