Classic Tone - The Gibson Dove Original Acoustic Guitar with Antique Natural Finish Introduced in the early 1960s, this iconic square-shoulder acoustic with its striking flame maple back has long been associated with one of the most transformative eras in popular music. The combination of maple back and sides and a long 25.5-inch scale length delivers articulate tone, impressive projection, and exceptional clarity, while the square-shoulder body shape contributes warmth and balance across the tonal spectrum. The Dove Original is now outfitted with Gibson’s exclusive, custom-voiced Baggs HiFi DNA pickup system, faithfully capturing the instrument’s natural acoustic voice and the subtle dynamics of every performance when amplified. Built with a Sitka spruce top, flame maple back and sides, and traditional scalloped X-bracing, the Dove Original blends classic craftsmanship with distinctive style. Multi-ply binding frames both the top and back, and a gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish highlights the elegant contours of the body. Together, the maple construction and long scale length help create the crisp attack, note definition, and projection that have become hallmarks of the model. The mahogany neck features a comfortable Rounded profile and is joined to the body with a compound dovetail neck-to-body joint. A rosewood fretboard with a 12-inch radius carries 20 standard frets and mother-of-pearl parallelogram inlays. At the headstock, nickel Grover Keystone tuners work alongside a bone nut for reliable performance and classic styling. Traditional appointments, including the Dove truss rod cover and double-antiqued multi-ply binding, further reinforce the model’s instantly recognizable appearance. A rosewood Dove bridge fitted with a bone saddle and TUSQ bridge pins continues the premium specification. Among the guitar’s most celebrated visual features is its signature Dove pickguard, adorned with an inlaid mother-of-pearl Dove highlighted by hand-engraved and paint
