This 2024 Gibson Les Paul SG 1962 Reissue is a stunningly accurate re-creation of one of the most sought-after and short-lived variants in Gibson history—complete with a rare ebony block Maestro™ Vibrola™ tailpiece, three unpotted Custombucker humbucking pickups, and gold-plated hardware. Although the three pickup white SG Custom is undeniably one of the most iconic electric guitars ever produced by Gibson, only a very small number of SG guitars in this particular configuration were made in '62. Originally introduced during a transitional moment SGs still carried the Les Paul name— these instruments were outfitted with a few uncommon features that date them precisely to a fairly narrow date window. The ebony block Maestro™ Vibrola™ system, a visual and tonal rarity seen only on a select few SG Standards and Customs from that specific period, is perhaps the most. This detail alone makes this reissue exceptionally desirable for collectors and players alike. Built by Gibson’s Custom Shop with painstaking attention to vintage accuracy, this instrument features a lightweight solid mahogany body, SlimTaper mahogany neck, and an ebony fingerboard. The three Custombuckers are voiced for authentic late-’50s/early-’60s PAF tone, delivering everything from thick, rich lows to articulate, singing highs. The middle pickup unlocks that unmistakable out-of-phase tone that defined a generation of expressive, exploratory players—reminiscent of tones used by Hendrix and other pioneers. This guitar also features a 2-ply “Les Paul Custom” truss rod cover, Grover tuners with kidney buttons, and beautifully aged gold hardware, combining visual elegance with vintage-accurate charm.
