For Sale: Exceptional 1968 Fender Telecaster – Late-60s Magic The DNA: Dating: Neck and body stamps date to '68, with pots dated to '66. Rare Features: This is one of the final models to feature a factory-lacquered neck. It also sports a maple veneer fingerboard—a short-lived, highly desirable specification unique to the late 60s. The Tone: Despite the '68 stamp, this guitar retains the soul of a mid-60s instrument, complete with the vintage-correct spiral saddles. You get that iconic, biting Telecaster snap, but with a remarkable, airy richness and a solid low-end presence that you simply won't find in 70s-era production. It’s mature, complex, and deeply resonant. The weight is 3.58kg Condition & Professional Upgrades: This guitar has been set up to perform. It has been professionally refretted with vintage-style wire (90%+ life remaining), and during the process, the fingerboard and back of the neck were meticulously refinished in lacquer for a premium, period-correct feel. Structural: The neck is stable with no warping or twisting. The truss rod turns smoothly in both directions. Electronics: Clean and reliable. The pots are smooth and noise-free.
