Seller's description

Lovely naturally relic'd 1969 Fender Telecaster. Plays and sounds absolutely beautifully, against all odds. (See the video.) This baby has had a life. It's a testament to how they made them back then, that it can look like it does and still sound like it does. Personally I love the natural relic look. Body looks to have once been black, but was refinished to an early (possibly even factory or custom factory) natural or transparent blonde, which has aged into a beautiful natural butterscotch color. Neck is full maple, with the truss mark, not maple cap, and its markings date it to 1967, which is a rarity. Body is undated, but has the George Fullerton notch on the upper cutaway notch, dating it to pre-1969. Neckplate serial number puts it in the 1967-1969 range as well. Both the neck and the body are extremely well-worn. Knocks, scrapes, finish wear, all of the above. There is a ton of finish checking and finish cracking, two in particular are pictured (one on the neck, one on the body on the lower cutaway pocket, that are possibly into the wood. They have been expertly repaired (glued, sanded, refinished) as a precaution. Both pickups are undated, but appear to be original. Bridge pickup has flat poles, so it is possible it's actually earlier than 1969. Wires are original. Pots and switch have been changed, as have the tuners and string trees. This made the taper much smoother, the switching smoother, and the tuning more stable. It was a player's decision. But it plays oh so well. Truss rod works well, but neck is very sensitive to temperature changes and it does need to be adjusted regularly for winter and summer. Decal is wearing off, as it is the pre-1970 kind that were applied over the finish. Patent numbers are gone, Telecaster is partially gone. I think it looks fantastic. Frets look terrible, but are surprisingly smooth and lifelike to play. (Again, see video.) True maple neck finish is actually beautiful to play...back of the neck has little finish left, givi
