Inspired by Mike Campbell's heavily modified 1972 Fender known as “Red Dog”, it combines traditional Telecaster DNA with a three-pickup SHH configuration, onboard boost circuit and Bigsby vibrato to create an unusually powerful and versatile electric guitar. Its custom Mike Campbell pickup set places a traditional-style Telecaster single-coil at the bridge alongside middle and neck humbuckers, all controlled from a five-position selector. A switchable onboard “Destruct” boost circuit provides up to 34dB of gain, giving the guitar access to dramatically more aggressive driven sounds directly from the control plate. An alder body with Fender's intentionally aged Heirloom nitrocellulose lacquer finish is paired with a one-piece maple Early '70s “C” neck, traditional 7.25-inch radius and 21 vintage-style frets. Add the Fender/Bigsby B5F bridge and tailpiece and the result is a highly distinctive Telecaster for rock, roots, Americana, blues, alternative music, recording and players who want far more tonal range than a standard two-pickup Tele.
