From the listing
Up for sale is a stunning 1978 Fender Precision Bass in a classic Black finish with a Rosewood fingerboard. This instrument is a prime example of the late-70s P-bass sound—powerful, punchy, and built to last.Key Features & Condition:• Electronics: 100% Original. All pickups and pots are period-correct and functioning perfectly.• Neck & Playability: The neck is in excellent condition with no issues. The truss rod is fully functional with plenty of room to adjust in both directions.• Frets: Original frets are preserved. They show some wear consistent with age but are in good condition for playing without any buzzing or dead spots.• Upgrades: Features a Brass Nut and Freedom Custom Guitar Research (FCGR) bridge saddles for enhanced resonance and precise intonation. The original factory saddles are included.• Weight: 4.9kg (approx. 10.8 lbs). This substantial weight, combined with the brass nut, provides incredible sustain and a tight, focused low-end that cuts through any mix.Sound Profile:This bass delivers the quintessential "P-Bass sound." While 60s reissues or Custom Shop models can sometimes feel polite, this '78 model has a raw, aggressive authority. The sustain is exceptionally long, and the tone remains clear and punchy even with the tone rolled off. It’s an instrument that proves the saying: "A great P-bass doesn't even need new strings to sound amazing."Cosmetics:In excellent vintage condition. While there are minor surface scratches and buckle rash typical for its age, it has been remarkably well-preserved. Includes the original Fender hard shell case, which is also in great shape.• Potentiometers: Original CTS pots with 1978 date codes (13778XX).• Pickups: Original gray-bottom pickups with period-correct stamps.• Neck Stamp: Features the authentic code 0100-2295, confirming its production era and matching perfectly with the S8-series serial number.• Condition: The neck pocket and heel are very clean, showing no signs of structural repair or modification.
