This is a 1987 E series Fender Contemporary Black Faced Telecaster HSS with Kahler Trem Unit, Sierra Spruce Metallic in fabulous Condition just the tiniest of marks and they are in the pics for you to see. Nothing much really, when this beauty is 34 years old. This is 'THE' supreme Factory produced Telecaster.. I can't think of anything that comes close in terms of build quality or tonal variation that isn't a Custom Shop or a luthier Handbuild.... And that is a BOLD statement. Built in the Fuji Gen Gakki plant, in Japan, Even Leo fender believed that these were the best Fenders ever built. The perfect finish on the body is, I believe, Sierra Spruce, which a Pre CBS fender colour and certainly the closest that I've found during research. it is also slightly metallic. The body is full thickness at 45 mm and feels really chunky. These Teles have 22 frets this one, Unusually has a beautiful D shaped slim tapered, skunk striped neck with the slightly warmer sounding Rosewood fretboard. Very commonly these guitars has Black painted necks to match the headstock. They also come with the Micro tilt feature again this is very unusual for a Tele but all the Contemporary MIJ Teles have it..  The pickups used in the Contemporary models were manufactured by Fuji Gen. All the pickups used on the Contemporary models are Alnico and NOT ceramic pickups. The humbucking pickups used in the Contemporary models have a DC resistance which is approximately 7.6 kiloohms. The single coil pickups used in the Contemporary models have a DC resistance which is approximately 5.6 k. Some of the earlier versions had the TBX tone control but this Later version with its Kahler Trem does not feature TBX. So whats so great about this Telecaster... Basically.... everything!! The Japanese Pickups are Crisp and Clear and articulate, not to mention powerful.
