This is a Master built Custom Version of the Custom Shop USA Jerry Donahue Signature Telecaster. This guitar was built by Master Builder Art Esparza : Art Esparza is a former Senior Master Builder at the Fender Custom Shop who was active from 1987 to 2006. He was an early member of the Custom Shop and was mentored by co-founder John Page, J.W. Black, and Phil Kubicki. Esparza built instruments for renowned artists like Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, and John Mayer. After leaving Fender, he continued to build custom guitars under his own name and eventually joined the Premier Builders Guild in 2012. Career highlights Fender Custom Shop (1987–2006): Esparza joined the Custom Shop shortly after it was founded in 1987. During his nearly two-decade tenure, he built custom instruments for numerous prominent musicians. Premier Builders Guild (2012–present): In 2012, Esparza joined the Premier Builders Guild (PBG) to work on USA Masterbuilt reissues for D'Angelico Guitars.  Notable guitars and artist collaborations Eric Clapton: Esparza built guitars for the legendary guitarist during his time at Fender. For example, a 2002 Fender Custom Shop Clapton Stratocaster built by Esparza was listed on eBay in 2025. Buddy Guy: He built a special polka-dot Stratocaster for Guy that matched one of his favorite shirts. An early 1991 Fender Custom Shop '57 Stratocaster Masterbuilt by Esparza was also owned by Guy. Ernie Isley: Esparza created the "Zeal" Stratocasters for the Isley Brothers' guitarist, a set of three guitars featuring an elaborate rose motif.
