Here’s an extremely nice and highly collectible Fender Japan Aerodyne Jazz Bass AJB-65 in Old Candy Apple Red. This is the early Japanese-market version with the bound Aerodyne body, matching painted headstock, P/J pickup configuration and no pick guard. This bass is from the early Crafted in Japan Q-series production and carries serial number Q032756. The AJB-65 is considerably harder to find than the more common black Aerodyne models, especially in Old Candy Apple Red and particularly in the U.S.The bass retains its original configuration and features the factory Precision-style neck pickup with Jazz Bass bridge pickup, three-control layout, rosewood fingerboard, matching headstock and distinctive cream body binding. There are no additional routes, breaks or other monkey business. The body and finish present very nicely for its age and the overall condition is shown clearly in the photos. It does have a couple of small dings on the top of the body and the edge of the headstock. They are hard to photograph as they are the size of the head of a pin. If these are extremely important, please request for additional photos. The neck is comfortable and fast, the electronics function as they should, and the bass sounds excellent. These Japanese Aerodynes have a very distinctive feel due to the thin, contoured body and are considerably lighter and more streamlined than a traditional Jazz Bass. This is not the later export Aerodyne that is commonly seen in black. The AJB-65 was a Japanese-market model and the Old Candy Apple Red examples are particularly difficult to locate stateside.A very clean and increasingly collectible early Fender Japan Aerodyne in one of the best and least commonly encountered finishes. Please review all photos closely for condition and feel free to reach out with any questions.
