Fender Custom Shop Bigsby Telecaster Journeyman Relic, Silver Sparkle Serial R108396 | Part # 923-1008-984 | Team Built | 2020 | 8 lbs 1 oz | UNPLAYED Purchased new. Never gigged, never rehearsed, never taken out of the house. It has lived in its case in a closet since the week it arrived. WHY I'M SELLING I ordered this without fully understanding Fender's aging tiers. When it arrived I decided the Journeyman relic wasn't for me, and it went back in the case. Nothing is wrong with it. Every mark on this guitar is deliberate factory relic work applied in Corona, not player wear. Look closely at the photos and buy accordingly. If you want a glossy guitar, this is not it. If you want a Custom Shop instrument with the aging already done and zero miles on it, it is exactly that. THE GUITAR A Custom Shop Tele built around two handwound TV Jones TV Classic Filter'Trons and a Fender-branded Bigsby B-5. The Filter'Trons trade the Tele's usual spank for something rounder and chimier, closer to Gretsch territory, with real bite still on tap at the bridge. The Bigsby gives you shimmer and gentle dips without the tuning headaches of a full trem. Silver sparkle over an okoume body with a matching sparkle headstock, a quartersawn maple neck, and an ebony board. Reads rockabilly, country and surf, but it holds up fine for indie, jangle and anything that wants chime instead of twang. At 8 lbs 1 oz it hangs comfortably for a long set. THE AGING Journeyman Relic is Fender's "used but loved" tier: an instrument that lived indoors and got played at home and the occasional weekend session. Expect finish checking across the body, minor nicks and small dents, dulled and lightly oxidized hardware, and softened wear at the usual contact points. Broken-in, not beaten. It is the most popular of the Custom Shop aging packages because it splits the difference between showroom-clean and road-worn.
