Up for sale is a killer, highly collectible 1980s Fender Contemporary Stratocaster in a stunning Candy Apple Red finish with a matching headstock. Crafted at the legendary FujiGen factory during the golden era of Made in Japan (MIJ) Fender production, this first-generation Contemporary model represents Fender's peak '80s innovation. For a 40-year-old instrument, it has been remarkably well preserved. It shows minor cosmetic signs of use including light finish swirling, sand one small chip in the paint which you can see in the pictures. No major structural issues. The neck is straight, the truss rod adjusts perfectly, and the frets show minimal wear with plenty of life left. Why It Collectible? Early MIJ Fenders are famous for build quality that frequently outclassed USA models of the same era. When CBS sold the company the FujiGen was making better guitars than what we were making here in the states. Finding these with the System System I Tremolo setup intact is becoming increasingly difficult. It is a tonal powerhouse,. Includes a non original Fender Tweed case.
