He’s appeared on over 1000 hit recordings, backing up country legends like Alan Jackson, George Jones, Willie Nelson and Dolly Parton, as well as contemporary luminaries like Blake Shelton and Carrie Underwood. He’s won countless awards including being named Guitarist of the Year multiple times by the Academy of Country Music and declared one of the top ten session guitarists of all time by Guitar World magazine. He also received a Grammy in 2008 for his work on Brad Paisley’s song “Cluster Pluck” and won the distinction of the Musician of the Year from the Country Music Association® in 1997 and 1998. To put it simply, if you’re listening to a great country record released in the last 50 years, there’s a pretty good chance Brent Mason is playing on it. And there’s a pretty good chance that Mason is playing his beloved ’67 Telecaster that he found in a guitar shop in the 80s, which he modded with new pickups, controls and a bender system – upgrades that helped make this his go-to guitar. So when we partnered with Mason to recreate this iconic model, we worked assiduously to get every detail correct.
