The Fender Big Block Telecaster in Black is one of the more unusual Telecaster variants from Fender’s mid-2000s Mexican production, combining the familiar Tele body shape with bold cosmetic detailing and a distinctly Strat-inspired electronics layout. Rather than the traditional two-pickup Telecaster configuration, the Big Block Telecaster features three single-coil pickups and a 5-way selector, giving access to glassy two-pickup combinations alongside familiar bridge, middle and neck sounds. Its visual specification is equally distinctive, with a black finish, matching painted headstock, large block fingerboard inlays and chrome mirror-style pickguard giving the guitar a much more aggressive appearance than a conventional Telecaster.
