This Early 1970 Gibson Les Paul Custom in Ebony is a genuine vintage player's Les Paul from a fascinating transitional period in Gibson production. At its core is the classic Custom formula: a maple-capped mahogany body, set mahogany neck, bound ebony fingerboard, twin humbuckers and traditional four-control Les Paul electronics. This early example also displays the smaller neck volute associated with the beginning of Gibson's move towards reinforced headstock construction. At 9.7 lb, it has the substantial feel expected of an early-'70s Les Paul Custom and is presented in Good Condition, with genuine age-related wear alongside several clearly documented service and replacement parts. Significant work includes a refret, replacement jack plate, replacement bridge. The original bridge remains with the guitar in the case, although one saddle and its screw have been replaced and the bridge's retainer wire is missing. The neck volume knob has previously been re-glued, and the pickup covers have been removed and refitted during the guitar's lifetime. A non-Gibson hardcase is included.
