The 2018 Fender American Special Telecaster in Sherwood Green Metallic combines classic Telecaster simplicity with a hotter, more modern playing specification and genuine USA construction. Built in Corona, California, the American Special Telecaster features an alder body, maple Modern C neck, rosewood fingerboard, 9.5" radius and 22 jumbo frets, giving it a noticeably more contemporary feel than a vintage-spec Tele. A pair of Texas Special Telecaster single-coil pickups provides plenty of bite, output and midrange, while Fender’s Greasebucket tone circuit allows high frequencies to be rolled back without adding excessive bass. Sherwood Green Metallic was introduced by Fender as a new American Special colour for 2018, making this one of the later and more distinctive finishes from the series.
