Seller's description

A superb 2016 PRS Wood Library Custom 24, finished in Charcoal and built with a seriously impressive selection of hand-picked timbers. The Wood Library programme sits in a nice place within PRS production, allowing selected dealers to specify guitars using premium woods and appointments normally associated with Artist Package and Private Stock instruments. This one is a particularly strong example, with an Artist Grade quilt maple top over a hand-selected swamp ash back, finished in Charcoal to really show off the figuring. The neck is equally special: Artist Grade figured maple with a hand-selected Gaboon ebony fingerboard, finished with gold mother-of-pearl bird inlays with paua centres. The Pattern Thin carve keeps it fast and comfortable without feeling insubstantial, and overall it has that precise, easy playing feel PRS do so well. Hardware is the 'hybrid' finish, paired with Phase III tuners, while the electronics comprise a set of 85/15 humbuckers controlled by master volume, tone and a 5-way blade switch. The 85/15s are a great match for the Custom 24 format, with plenty of clarity and definition, but enough output and weight to cover heavier sounds without getting muddy. This example is super clean and completely original, and the spec gives it a much more bespoke feel than a standard Custom 24. The quilt top, swamp ash back, figured maple neck and ebony board all come together beautifully without tipping into being overly flashy. All in all, a very handsome Wood Library Custom 24 with top-tier materials, excellent playability and a versatile pickup set. A really well-specced example of what the Wood Library programme does best.
