2011 Gibson Les Paul Traditional Plus Top – Desert Burst – OHSC & Certificate A beautiful 2011 Gibson Les Paul Traditional Plus Top finished in Desert Burst, complete with its original Gibson hard case and certificate. This is exactly what many players want from a Les Paul Traditional: a stunning figured maple top, classic mahogany construction, substantial traditional feel and a pair of Gibson ’57 Classic humbuckers. The Desert Burst finish looks particularly good on this one, with plenty of movement across the figuring and a rich transition from amber through to the darker outer burst. The Traditional was designed to retain much of the familiar old-school Les Paul recipe, with a mahogany body, figured maple top, mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard. This generation also uses Gibson’s traditional weight relief rather than the more extensively chambered construction found on some other models of the period. This example weighs 9lb 6.4oz. The rounded ’50s-style mahogany neck gives it that fuller Les Paul feel, while the 24.75” scale, 12” radius rosewood fingerboard and 22 frets make it immediately familiar under the hand. Importantly, this guitar still retains its original frets and original fret nibs, with the frets remaining in very nice condition. Electronics are the classic Gibson combination of a ’57 Classic neck humbucker and ’57 Classic Plus bridge humbucker, controlled through two volume controls, two tone controls and the traditional three-way selector. They give everything you would expect from a good Les Paul, from warm, rounded neck tones through to powerful bridge sounds with plenty of bite and definition. Period specifications for this version also include a Nashville Tune-O-Matic bridge, stopbar tailpiece and chrome hardware.
